Senate Fundraising Roundup

January 12, 2012
-- Rep. Connie Mack, R-Fla.: Mack's campaign initially said it would raise more than $500,000, and on Thursday it reported that it raised $758,000+ in the fourth quarter, with $1 million in the bank to end the period. Florida's expensive, and Nelson's cash-on-hand is significant, so Mack's number is not an overly impressive figure. Given that the campaign low-balled their figure in advance, cosmetically it looks better what most observers anticipated. -- Rep. Chris Murphy, D-Conn.: Murphy's campaign announced raising over $720,000 in the final fundraising quarter of last year and ended the year with $2.5 million cash on hand. Murphy has consistently outraised state Rep. William Tong and former Connecticut Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz, his Democratic primary opponents, but neither released their fourth quarter total yet. No numbers have been reported from the GOP side either, where former Rep. Chris Shays faces 2010 nominee Linda McMahon, who says she's trying to raise money after spending $50 million of her personal wealth the last time she ran.
