DSCC Briefing Roundup

December 6, 2011
Connecticut: While Murray emphasized the committee's support for female candidates, Connecticut is one state where the DSCC is backing a male candidate, Rep. Chris Murphy, R-Conn., in the Democratic primary rather than the female candidate, former Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz. "When we go out and talk to people in states, we look at who is the strongest candidate, who can win... and in that state Chris Murphy is just a great candidate," she said. Arizona: Murray heaped praise on the recent Democratic recruit in Arizona, former U.S. Surgeon General Richard Carmona, saying she was impressed with him and recapping his resume. Saying he had experience helping people and creating jobs, she proclaimed Carmona "the exact kind of leader we're looking for in the Senate today."
