Downplaying Social Issues In New Hampshire

When asked to draw a contrast between himself and Ovide Lamontagne, the other candidate running in the Republican race, Smith pointed to the difference in their backgrounds, but was careful not to launch into an all-out criticism of his opponent. "I'm going to be offering bold ideas and specifics solutions to our state's problem and challenges," he said, when asked about the difference between himself and Lamontagne, adding, "I think our backgrounds are very different and I think our experience is very different."
