Charlie Gonzales Won't Seek Reelection
"On behalf of the DCCC, I thank Charlie Gonzalez for his distinguished service in the House. This is a strong Democratic district and we look forward to electing a Democrat next November who will create jobs, protect the middle class and the Medicare guarantee for seniors rather than tax breaks for billionaires," said Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Steve Israel in a statement. Meanwhile, former Democratic Rep. Ciro Rodriguez, who represented the 23rd District for two terms (and also previously represented the 28th District) until he was ousted in 2011 has en eye on the new 35th District, where Castro originally intended to run, the paper reported. "It's about having lived in this district almost my entire life," Rodriguez told the Express-News.
