The biggest winner may be Rep. Steve Chabot, who represents Cincinnati. Chabot lost his seat in 2008, thanks to an anti-Republican wave and a surge of new Democratic voters, but he won it back in 2010 with the Republican wind at his back. The new proposal would give Chabot all of Warren County, much of which is currently in Rep. Jean Schmidt's district. Warren County gave John McCain nearly two-thirds of the vote in 2008, giving Chabot a big chunk of new Republican voters who may ultimately help him move off Democrats' target list. While the new maps are bad news for Democrats across the state, there is some good news for former Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy. The Columbus Democrat lost her seat in 2010, but she is planning on running again now that Republicans have drawn a seat that takes in most of Columbus proper. That new seat is a repository for Democratic votes, ultimately shoring up Republicans Stivers and Tiberi.
