A plurality of voters also prefer a Republican-controlled Congress, 47 percent to 41 percent. Even in October 2010, before the GOP regained control of the House, Democrats led on that measure by two points. The ABC News/Washington Post poll was conducted Aug. 29-Sept. 1 by Abt-SRBI, surveying 1,001 adults. The margin of error was +/- 3.1 percent. The NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll was conducted Aug. 27-31 by a bipartisan team of pollsters. That poll surveyed 1,000 adults, with a margin of error of +/- 3.1 percent; the margin of error is higher for subgroups, such as registered voters.
