Of Macaca Moments And DNC Chairmanships

While the poll asked whether Kaine's work for the DNC affected his performance as governor, it did not specifically ask whether his work as the head of committee with President Obama in office is an issue. Republicans are working to cast Kaine as an Obama's "cheerleader-in-chief." And 51 percent said Obama would have an influence in their Senate vote; 47 percent said he would not. Overall, the poll found Kaine and Allen in a dead heat, deadlocked at 46 percent. This poll was conducted April 28-May 4 by Abt-SRBI and surveyed 1,180 adults in Virginia, including 1,040 registered voters and users of both conventional and cellular phones. The sub-sample of 1,040 registered voters carries a margin of error of +/- 3.0 percent.
