The statement made clear the RNC is committed to enforcing rules the party spent years carefully crafting. RNC staff cited a party rule that requires every state to hold their nominating contest within a certain window. Any state that holds a nominating contest before that window risks losing half their delegates to the 2012 convention. Members of the select committee are unlikely to give Florida a pass. Headed by Tennessee RNC member John Ryder, the committee is packed with members who have proven sticklers for party rules, including Michigan committeeman Saul Anuzis, former Ohio party chairman Bob Bennett and Priebus ally Steve King, of Wisconsin.
