The statement made clear the RNC is committed to enforcing rules the party spent years carefully crafting. RNC staff cited a party rule that requires every state to hold their nominating contest within a certain window. Any state that holds a nominating contest before that window risks losing half their delegates to the 2012 convention.
Members of the select committee are unlikely to give Florida a pass. Headed by Tennessee RNC member John Ryder
, the committee is packed with members who have proven sticklers for party rules, including Michigan committeeman Saul Anuzis
, former Ohio party chairman Bob Bennett
and Priebus ally Steve King
, of Wisconsin.
