Ireland Hits The Airwaves In West Virginia

With under three weeks to go until the primary, Ireland appears to be the front-runner in the GOP race, but businessman Bill Maloney (R) is making a hard push of his own toward the finish line. Public polling on the GOP field has been almost nonexistent, and no live-caller polls have been released publicly. The most recent poll was an automated survey, conducted by the Democratic firm Public Policy Polling, which suggested Ireland was ahead. Maloney, who is running as a conservative political outsider, hasn't faded into the background; he outraised Ireland according to the most recent campaign finance reports filed with the state and has been up on television with different spots of his own. Over the weekend, Maloney launched a television ad highlighting his role in helping develop the plan to rescue trapped Chilean miners in 2010. Early voting begins in the state on Friday and the primary will take place on May 14.
