Gingrich Reaches Out To Catholics At Prayer Breakfast

The breakfast focused heavily on the upcoming beatification of Pope John Paul II, and the former speaker used the speech to promote his newest movie, "Nine Days that Changed the World," which documents Pope John Paul II's trip to Poland in 1979. Gingrich credited Paul's opposition to communism as being one of the biggest reasons for the end of the Cold War and the fall of the Berlin Wall. While he did not single out any other politicians in his speech, Gingrich criticized "militant, government-imposed secularism" both in the United States and Europe, and said that America is facing a "crisis of culture and civilization" because of secularism.
