Lee Will Endorse In Primaries, Just Not In Utah

Also worth noting: Lee's decision could potentially put him at odds with Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.). DeMint endorsed Williams in 2009, when it appeared Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) would be stepping down, triggering a 2010 special election. That didn't happen, although following Hutchison's announcement this year that she won't seek reelection in 2012, DeMint identified both Williams and Cruz as attractive candidates. DeMint has not come forward for Williams yet, and the Senate Conservatives Fund doesn't list Williams as an endorsed candidate, meaning their support -- financially and otherwise -- is up for grabs.
