Romney Wins New Hampshire Straw Poll

Party activists were also asked to rate the they think congressional Republicans should focus on. Reducing the deficit and creating jobs were tied for first; repealing health care came in third. In electing Jack Kimball of Dover as chairman of the state party, so-called "liberty" Republicans, the New Hampshire variant of the Tea Party, demonstrated strength in what's generally considered to be a more moderate Republican state party. The establishment candidate, Juliana Bergeron, had won the backing of current state chair and former Sen John Sununu. In recent weeks, Kimball attempted to broaden his base, appealing to the anti-establishment attitude that has helped lesser known candidates win in races across the country. Romney is planning to visit New Hampshire in March.
