Bachmann Ponies Up For Iowa Candidates

Bachmann's chief of staff, Andy Parrish, told Hotline On Call that Bachmann simply believed in those candidates. "The people and organizations she gave to are good leaders and do good work," Parrish said. "She wanted to do her part to make sure they were elected." Parrish declined to comment on the presidential speculation and whether she is trying to raise her profile in Iowa. Bachmann gave money to several state legislature campaigns, including that of Iowa state House Republican Leader Kraig Paulsen ($4,500). Bachmann also gave $5,000 to unsuccessful Iowa attorney general contender Brenna Findley (R). Outside of Iowa, Bachman gave $1,000 to Sean Bielat (R), who unsuccessfully challenged Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), California Senate contender Carly Fiorina (R) and a trio of Republican Minnesota House contenders -- George Demos, Randy Demmer and Lee Byberg. All three lost.
