Starting Lineup: Nelson's New Challenger

Don't Miss: The Hotline's updated whip count of the Republican National Committee's chairmanship race: Sununu Picks Successor: Outgoing New Hampshire GOP Chair John Sununu is planning to endorse Cheshire County Republican Chair Juliana Bergeron to succeed him, James Pindell of WMUR scoops. But there's a catch. Per Pindell: "For his endorsement he wanted to be given some new, ambiguous role with the state party moving forward, like a 'Chairman Emeritus'. Sources say this will likely be an unofficial role that would have power in decision making, but none of the responsibilities in the day to day running of the committee (or the criticism.)" Hotline On Call reported earlier this week that Bergeron is the frontrunner for the job and that Sununu's endorsement would be one of the determining factors in the race. Watch Out Capitol Hill Staff, Sere Moves To A House Gig: Andy Sere, who was the Southern regional press secretary for the National Republican Congressional Committee this year, is making the jump to the House: He will be Rep.-elect David McKinley's (R-W.Va.) chief of staff in the new Congress. Sere was known for his hard charging style during the cycle that contributed to significant Republican gains in the South this year. He was particularly invested in McKinley's race for the open seat in West Virginia's 1st District.
