Pence Stokes 2012 Buzz With Economic Address

Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind., is looking more and more like a presidential candidate.(Chet Susslin)

But while some have guessed Pence would like to run for the open seat being vacated by Gov. Mitch Daniels (R), who is term-limited in 2012, governors not from Michigan do not make a habit of appearing at such a high-profile venue.

Nothing in Pence's future is official yet. Pence spokesman Matt Lloyd said Pence has not made a decision about whether to seek the White House.

Pence has generated buzz as a possible presidential contender before, hiring prominent campaign advisors even though he does not hold a swing seat and participating in national conservative events. Earlier this year, Pence won a presidential preference straw poll at the Value Voters Summit in Washington, a high-profile gathering of social conservatives and a necessary stop for anyone considering a White House bid.
