Paul Ryan is having a pretty good day. Here are six other winners who will be smiling all day:
-- The Mainstream Media: Aviation bloggers need not apply this year. CNN's Peter Hamby first identified Romney's bus trip this weekend as the likely moment when the campaign would roll out their vice presidential contender even as the campaign itself denied it. NBC's Chuck Todd broke news that Ryan had gotten the nod late last night. And The New Yorker's Ryan Lizza perfectly timed his Paul Ryan profile in last week's magazine.
-- The Romney Inner Circle: They are notoriously tight-knit and fiercely loyal to their main man. No one leaked, even though Romney reportedly finalized his pick more than a week ago, the day he returned from his trip to England, Israel and Poland. Those advisers -- Beth Myers, who led the search, campaign manager Matt Rhoades, chief spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom and others -- threw the media off the scent and kept their mouths shut until the last possible moment.
