Driving The Day: Chicken And Coffee

Judging by today's headlines, our politics have been reduced to a fast food menu.

Conservatives have made Chick-fil-A restaurants the latest rallying cry in a renewed debate over gay marriage after some big-city mayors took issue with an interview the company's CEO gave in a Baptist magazine two weeks ago. Boston Mayor Tom Menino and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said they want the restaurant to stay away from their cities, while conservatives came to the company's defense.

Thousands lined up at outlets across the country for Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day yesterday. Sarah Palin couldn't wait to get her hands on some waffle fries. And on Tuesday night, Texas Senate candidate Ted Cruz served chicken sandwiches at his victory party.
