Santorum Wins North Dakota

CNN projected Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum won North Dakota’s caucuses on Tuesday, his third victory on a night that showed his staying power in a nomination race that Mitt Romney had hoped to start shutting down.

Boasting the lowest unemployment rate in the country and large oil reserves, North Dakota was a perfect setting for the GOP presidential contenders to tout their message. Three of the four paid visits to the state. Ron Paul, who has not notched a single win in the course of the nominating contests, viewed North Dakota as one of his best chances for a strong showing, but came up short.
