Santorum: I Can Do Better on Jobs

March 11, 2012 | 12:07 p.m.

The country may have just added 227,000 new jobs, but Rick Santorum told NBC’s Meet the Press that if he were elected president he could do better. And he’d start with energy policy.

“Absolutely we can do a better job,” Santorum said on Sunday. “There's no partisan gridlock. There's a radical ideology of environmentalism that says, ‘Let's drill for oil in Saudi Arabia, let's drill for it in Brazil, but don't drill for it in my backyard.’”

Santorum accused the president of having a “no energy policy,” and urged the building of the Keystone Pipeline. But Santorum said it wasn’t just energy policy where Obama was impeding jobs growth.

“Throw on top of that the implementation of Obamacare and regulations and other types of high cost regulations, this president has set a record in the number of high cost regulations,” he said. “What I've said on day one, I'll repeal every one of those regulations that cost over $100 million.”
