Rick Santorum, who has made family values a central plank of his presidential campaign, on Monday received the endorsement of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, the conservative Christian stars of the TLC reality show "19 and Counting" featuring their 19 children.

Michelle Duggar lauded the former Pennsylvania senator's opposition to the procedure known as "partial-birth" abortion and commitment to defining marriage as being between a man and a woman. "He will be a voice for senior citizens, the working families and the unborn," she said in a statement.

Santorum -- who has seven children -- returned the compliment, saying the Duggars "have lived out their lives and their faith in the public eye, and have stood up for the foundational principles not just in word, but in deed."

The Duggars, who live in Arkansas, received widespread media attention for holding a memorial service last month for what would have been their 20th child after Michelle Duggar suffered a miscarriage. The couple took “artistic” photos of the fetus and handed them out at the service.
