Will President Obama win Colorado again? Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said on Wednesday that the incumbent Democrat will be able to capture the purple state that Salazar once represented in the Senate -- but it will be more difficult this time around.

Speaking at a Christian Science Monitor breakfast, Salazar compared the 2012 presidential election to his 2004 Senate race, which he won with only 51 percent of the vote.

"I won in Colorado [in 2004] because I ran a smart campaign," he said. "I know the president and his team and they know how to run campaigns, so I'm confident Colorado will fall into the Obama column in 2012."

A reporter asked, "Harder, though, than last time?"

"Yes," Salazar said.
