Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, whose name has long been mentioned as a potential GOP vice presidential choice, said on Sunday that Mitt Romney has a selection process in place and that republicans should “let his process play itself out.”
“He has folks that he's hired and has asked to go through a vice presidential process,” Rubio said on CNN’s State of the Union. “The last thing he needs are those of us in the peanut gallery to be saying what we would or would not do.”
Earlier this week, Rubio said he did not want to be vice president and would decline if Romney asked, though he did make a verbal gaffe that showed the office of vice president was at least on his mind.
“Up to now it's all been theoretical,” Rubio said on CNN. “We have a nominee now, and our nominee, Mitt Romney, the leader of the Republican Party, has a vice presidential process in place. And I think from this point moving forward, I think it'd be wise for all Republicans to kind of respect that process.”
