GOP presidential front-runner Mitt Romney aimed his primary night speech Tuesday at President Obama, as has become customary, as he made a clean sweep of three contests in Wisconsin, Maryland and D.C.
The victories brought him all the closer to vanquishing the remaining challengers in the field and finally wrapping up the Republican nomination.
“We won ‘em all!” Romney said.
In the same week the Obama campaign began airing ads specifically targeting Romney and on the same day Obama began attacking the former Massachusetts governor by name, Romney returned fire.
“President Obama thinks he's doing a good job," Romney said. "I'm not kidding. He actually thinks he's doing a great job.
"It's enough to make you think that years of flying around on Air Force One, surrounded by an adoring staff of true believers telling you what a great job you are doing, well, that might be enough to make you a little out of touch," Romney added.
Romney also delivered a blistering critique of the president’s economic policies and looked ahead to both the next round of primaries and the general election.
“These last few years have been difficult, made a lot worse by the mistakes and failures of the president's leadership,” Romney said. “Tonight I'm asking the good people of Pennsylvania and New York, Rhode Island, Delaware, and Connecticut to join me. Join me in the next step toward that destination of Nov. 6th when across America we can give a sigh of relief.”
Pennsylvania and the other northeastern states Romney named hold primaries April 24.
