The Romney campaign is out with a new ad that shows Rick Santorum endorsing his candidacy for president back in 2008, and the Santorum campaign isn’t having anything to do with it.

“If you want a conservative as the nominee for this party, you must vote for Mitt Romney,” the ad shows Santorum saying, with Romney behind him.

On Monday, Santorum aide John Brabender said Romney is not the candidate he was four years ago when he ran against Sen. John McCain, and that his record has fallen apart.

“Rick Santorum has been very clear that he only endorsed Mitt Romney when he was running against a moderate, and said that of the two, Mitt Romney was more conservative,” Brabender said on MSNBC. “We now know things like Romneycare, which has been a disaster, offers free abortions, all these things became the architect and the blueprint for Obamacare.”
