One of the women who accused Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain of sexual harassment during his time at the National Restaurant Association received a settlement with a payout of around $45,000, Politico reported on Thursday.
The payout is more than the $35,000 settlement that the NRA paid, according to The New York Times, to a second woman who also accused Cain of inappropriate behavior.
Cain, whose account of the matter has shifted since the news of the allegations broke on Sunday, had told Fox News on Monday that the payment might have been for two months' salary.
"I don’t remember the exact number, but I do remember my general counsel saying, ‘The good news is, we didn’t pay all of this money that was being demanded,” Cain said, according to Politico.
