Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio recently had six meetings over a six-hour time span with some of Mitt Romney’s chief campaign advisers, sessions that possibly included Beth Myers, who is vetting potential running mates, according to a report on the ABC News website.
“You know, I talk to those guys all the time on how things are going in Ohio and what the message ought to be back home in Ohio, so, it was a good, good day; we had six meetings in about six hours, so it was busy,” Portman told one of the network’s reporters as he was leaving the American Builders and Contractors Association in Washington on Tuesday morning.
Portman then clarified his comments, saying that three of the six meetings were Romney fundraisers, not vetting meetings. The Republican senator, from a pivotal swing state, is said to be on Romney’s short list of possible running mates.
