QUICK TAKE: Sununu Calls Attacks on Romney in N.H. Un-Republican

After Mitt Romney was declared the winner of the Republican primary in New Hampshire, the state's former governor, John Sununu, said Newt Gingrich and Rick Perry “sound more like guys coming out of the left wing,” and predicted their attacks on Romney would backfire.

Sununu, who also served as chief of staff under President George H. W. Bush, fiercely defended Romney in an interview with MSNBC. Asked how the economy would be affected by Romney’s plan to raise taxes on families making under $40,000 and cut taxes on the wealthy, Sununu questioned MSNBC’s source.

“I think that is strange,” Sununu said. “I think that is kind of strange when the governor has made it clear he’s not cutting taxes on the upper brackets, that he is cutting taxes on the hard-earning taxpayers in the middle and that he is committed to lowering taxes across the board. With all due respect, there is a technical term for that: a crock of crap.”

Sununu also said Romney’s greatest advantage over past Republican presidential candidates was that he was running against Obama, whom he called an “absolutely incompetent president.”
