Thanks to new support from conservatives, GOP hopeful Mitt Romney has regained the lead in the race for the GOP nomination, according to a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll.
It is the first time since November that Romney has led the poll, which shows Romney at 38 percent nationwide and Rick Santorum at 32 percent. At the same time, President Barack Obama is showing new strength, with an approval rating of 50 percent, his highest since May, as more voters showed confidence in the economy.
The survey also showed increasing fatigue among voters, especially on the Republican side. Voter interest has fallen sharply since January, which is a rarity in election years, and negative views of the candidates have increased among moderates and independents, according to the poll.
