Poll: Race Effectively Tied in Florida

The presidential election remains unchanged and effectively tied in Florida, according to a new CNN/ORC International poll released on Monday.

The poll shows Mitt Romney with a 1-point lead over President Obama in the Sunshine State at 50 percent support among likely voters, well within the margin of error. It’s also the same margin as the CNN poll from mid-October, except both candidates gained 1 point, respectively.

Of the likely voters polled, 5 percent say they are undecided or could change their minds.

The gender gap is also quite salient in Florida, as 55 percent of men polled support Romney and 54 percent of women polled are supporting Obama. The president is also doing better among younger and lower-income Americans.

The poll notes that when third party candidates are added into the mix, the slight advantage toward Romney turns into a 48 percent tie with the president. Libertarian Gary Johnson and Green party candidate Jill Stein each earn 1 percent support in the poll.

The poll was conducted between 1,010 adults between Oct. 25 and Oct. 28. Of those polled, 914 were registered voters and 770 were likely voters. The poll had a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.
