DES MOINES, Iowa--Rick Perry's final message to Iowa voters before the holidays evokes pride and patriotism in a new ad released by the campaign featuring several military veterans voicing their support for the Texas governor.
"Governor Perry--he is the best person to serve as commander in chief," says Daniel Moran, a veteran who was wounded in Iraq and campaigned for Perry during the first part of the governor's Iowa bus tour.
Marcus Luttrell, another longtime Perry friend and veteran, appears saying, "Governor Rick Perry--he is one of the most honorable men I've ever met."
Many of the veterans have appeared in previous Perry campaign materials, showing his base of support among those who served in the military. Luttrell was also featured in a spot that ran over Thanksgiving.
Perry's voice can be heard touting his outsider status as both color and black-and-white images of returning military personnel flash across the screen.
"I'm the outsider who's willing to step on some toes," he says. "We can surely recapture what is great about America. And we can restore this nation to its preeminence in the world as a beacon of individual liberty and economic prosperity. And there is no greater cause in our time."
