Pawlenty: We Don’t Need an 'Entertainer-in-Chief'

March 9, 2012

Pushing back at the thinking that Mitt Romney is not connecting with GOP voters, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty argued on Friday, “We’re not about nominating the Entertainer-in-Chief.”

Speaking on Fox News’ America’s Newsroom, the former presidential candidate and Romney supporter said instead “we’re about nominating somebody who can be an effective president of the United States.”

“Do we want a leader who’s inspiring and can get people excited and passionate to follow him or her? Yes,” Pawlenty said. “But we also want somebody … who is thoughtful, responsible, has a record of accomplishment.”

He added: “Because if it’s just about entertainment, excitement, and passion, then go get an entertainer.”
