Paul: Too Soon to Call Nevada

Following a third-place finish in Nevada, Rep. Ron Paul dismissed his showing as the result of lower turnout and suggested that it was too soon to call the caucus vote.

“The votes aren't all counted yet, and there seems to be a bit of chaos out there, even though it was a small caucus vote,” the Texas Republican said on ABC’s This Week.

Paul remained optimistic, adding that he’ll receive delegates even with a third-place finish. But he showed more caution than he has in the past, refusing to name any single caucus state in which he’d be able to take the lead.

Paul did say that the other candidates in the race have failed to galvanize Republican voters, which could be problematic for party unity, and suggested that low turnout showed voters were perhaps looking for another option.

“There’s a lot of people not satisfied with any of the candidates out there,” he said. “And that’s why in many ways we’re seeing a lower turnout right now.”
