The liberal group MoveOn.org released a talking-horse ad on Thursday to attack Mitt Romney on health care reform and outsourcing.
The ad was released the same day that Rafalca, the Romney-owned horse, performed at the Olympics in dressage, an otherwise obscure horse dancing sport.
In the 30-second ad, the horse, speaking with a Boston Brahmin accent, introduces herself (“My name’s Rafalca”) and goes on to say, “The Romneys spend $77,000 a year on my upkeep," a reference to the amount the Romneys claimed in their 2010 tax return.
“After Mitt Romney repeals health care and ships your job overseas, I daresay your life will not be nearly as pampered as mine," the horse says. "After all, you’re not one of his horses.”
The Democratic National Committee last month apologized for running two videos that showed Rafalca in order to accuse Romney of "dancing around the issues." Despite the apology, the videos have not yet been taken down.
The spot, "a five-figure ad buy," according to a MoveOn spokeswoman, will be running in Las Vegas, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh on both cable and broadcast television.
