Mitt Romney has canceled an appearance scheduled for this Thursday on ABC’s talk show The Viewaccording to The Huffington Post.

Barbara Walters, one of the show’s cohosts, announced on Monday’s show that the campaign canceled the appearance due to a scheduling conflict and was unable to reschedule prior to the election.

Romney’s appearance was to be a joint one with his wife, Ann; she will still be appearing on the show. In a leaked video made infamous for its “47 percent” comments, Romney had called a potential appearance on the show “high risk,” because it had “sharp-tongued” hosts, including Whoopi Goldberg, whom he mentioned by name. Those remarks did not sit well with Goldberg.

President Obama had been criticized for appearing on the show in September — and avoiding meeting with world leaders — during the opening of the United Nations’ General Assembly.
