McCain Decries Republicans Bashing Romney

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said the presidential race is “still very close,” despite some “obviously difficult times” for Republican Mitt Romney’s campaign.

Appearing on Bloomberg’s new Sunday program, Capitol Gains, McCain reminded viewers that his own presidential campaign was “declared dead” in 2007. “We had an incredible resurrection and ended up winning” the Republican nomination, he said.

“Those Republicans taking shots at me when I was down didn't help me at all,” he added. “Why would Republicans try to harm a Republican candidate?”
