Former presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is asking his delegates to support Mitt Romney.

In an open letter on Tuesday, Gingrich released the delegates pledged to him ahead of next week's Republican National Convention, writing that “it is time now for all Republicans to come together in common purpose to defeat President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.”

Gingrich, the former Speaker of the House, accumulated 138 delegates in his run for president, according to The New York Times.
