The Trail: 2012 Presidential News from the Field

Campaign 2012

George H.W. Bush to Formally Endorse Romney

Former President George H.W. Bush will formally endorse Mitt Romney for president on Thursday, the Romney campaign announced.

The former president had previously made supportive statements about Romney, saying in December that the Republican front-runner is “the best choice for us.” Former first lady Barbara Bush also has recorded robocalls for the candidate during the primary.

The announcement is scheduled for about 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time in Houston, where Bush has an office. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has already endorsed Romney, and former President George W. Bush has not yet made a decision on an endorsement in the 2012 race.
