A new web video from American Crossroads, the Republican Super PAC founded by Karl Rove, mocks President Obama’s economic speech on Thursday using “wah-wah” sound effects reminiscent of Peanuts cartoons.
The ad begins with a cheeky-sounding narrator intoning: “And now a message from the President of the United States,” and picks up a clip from Obama’s speech. “From 2001 to 2008..." it quickly cuts him off and shows screen text saying, “Translation: Blame Bush.” The text is accompanied by muted trumpet notes similar to the way adults sound in Peanuts cartoons.
The nearly minute-and-a-half video continues in this vein, ending with the text: “After 4 years of the same excuses…Eventually they just sound like this:” More wah-wah-waah sounds.
“Good Grief,” reads the text.
