The National Weather Service has canceled a tropical storm warning for coastal portions of the Florida panhandle.

  • The relieved area includes Tampa, the site of the Republican National Convention.
  • The storm is headed west of Tampa, and New Orleans is now expected to bear the potential brunt of it. It remains on track to land in Louisiana as a Category 1 hurricane.
