GOP weighs delaying Monday start of convention in Tampa

  • Republican officials are "seriously considering" delaying the start of the convention due to Tropical Storm Isaac, according to a senior GOP official who is involved in convention planning.
  • Convention officials are holding a 6:45 pm conference call update to discuss the weather and their plans.
  • The convention has been scheduled to run Monday through Thursday.
  • The major networks are not running coverage on Monday, the night Ann Romney was supposed to speak. Her speech is now scheduled for Tuesday.
  • Republicans canceled almost all of their first-day program in 2008 due to Hurricane Gustav.
