Newt Gingrich will be able to revisit his professorial roots next week, leading a series of public policy workshops at the Republican National Convention.

The RNC announced details of “Newt U” on Sunday, saying it will “examine the convention's daily themes in greater detail and give delegates an opportunity to dive deeper into those issues.” Holding the workshops in different locations each day, the former House speaker will host a wide-ranging field of former and current politicians, media personalities and policy experts.

Flanked by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, CNBC host Larry Kudlow, Illinois Rep. Aaron Schock and others, Gingrich will offer a two-hour discussion on jobs, economic growth and Medicare on Monday.

On Tuesday, Gingrich is joined by his wife, Callista, and former Secretary of Veterans Affairs Jim Nicholson to discuss small businesses. Wednesday will feature energy experts and business leaders.

The workshops conclude in Clearwater, Fla., with an event featuring Utah Sen. Mike Lee and Georgia Rep. Tom Price.

Before running for Congress in the 1970s, Gingrich taught history as an assistant professor at West Georgia College.
