Report Says New Jersey Governor Will Keynote Convention's Second Night
- New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will be the keynote speaker at the Republican National Convention in Tampa Tuesday, Aug. 28, according to Republican activists interviewed by The New York Post.
- "It has a logic to it," wrote Politico's Maggie Haberman. "He has a similar fire-up-the-band approach on stage as, say, Rudy Giuliani, who gave the keynote in 2004 when the convention was in New York City."
- Christie has been mentioned as possible running mate to Mitt Romney, though analysts expect other Republicans have a far greater chance at selection.
- Christie has been a vocal surrogate for Romney on the campaign trail.
