Florida Gov. Rick Scott: ‘We are Ready’ For Isaac

As Tropical Storm Isaac threatens the Republican National Convention in Tampa next week, Florida Gov. Rick Scott told Mitt Romney that the state will be ready for it.

“I spoke with Governor Romney yesterday to keep him informed,” Scott told CNN’s Soledad O’Brien on Starting Point on Friday. “I told him that we are ready. This is what we do.”

Scott said that the national guard, Florida’s emergency management agency, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency are in place to act in the event of a disaster.

Fortunately, Scott added, the storm is likely going to move further west from Tampa.

Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn also said on CNN that the city is “in good shape” to take on the storm, although Tampa will most likely experience minimal rain and wind.

“We are seamless. There is no light between any of us,” Buckhorn said of the teams monitoring the storm and readying emergency plans. “Fortunately, I don’t think that’s going to be an issue. Evacuation is not being discussed at this point.”
