Obama senior advisers are asking labor unions to cover some of the costs of the Democratic convention in September, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday.

Because of a self-imposed ban on corporate donations, Democrats need some help from the country’s major unions to pay for the convention. The unions include the AFL-CIO, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and the United Auto Workers.

Democrats are about halfway to the $36.6 million price tag on the convention in Charlotte, N.C., Bloomberg reports. The convention is being held at the Bank of America Stadium on Sept. 6.
